Crab-eating fox from the Caatinga shrub in Northeast Brazil. This species is widely distributed across South America, in pretty much all environments (except dense rainforest and high altitude ecosystems) up to an elevation of 3000 m above sea level. The distribution is disjunct, with two major ranges separated by the Amazon Rainforest. Up north in Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, the Guianas, and Panamá. In the south across most of Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia, Argentina, and Uruguay.
