Red-legged seriema

An adult red-legged seriema from the woodland savannas of the Cerrado biome. This is the bird species that gets most often caught in our camera traps. They are distributed in open areas of Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia, Argentina, and Uruguay. It is a Least Concern species, with no major threats for its survival at the large scale. Habitat loss in certain areas however, could be a threat for some populations.
