Pampas Cat

We usually post cat pictures on Fridays, but today we are making an exception with this beautiful Pampas Cat from the northern savannas. We have detected several melanistic individuals in the savanna sites. Why is the prevalence of melanism so high at savanna sites is something that needs to be investigated. Usually for most cats, melanistic forms are more common in deeply forested areas.
