An individual "posses" in front of our camera at the savannas of the Cerrado biome. This species has a wide distribution in open areas of Eastern South America, in biomes such as the Cerrado, the Caatinga, the Chaco, and the Pampas. The species used to be considered a single taxon along with the Guianan white-eared opossum and the Andean white-eared opossum. But the three species were recently split.
