Southern crested caracara

Though rarely, raptors and other flying birds do get caught on camera traps from time to time. Here we have a Southern crested caracara from the Brazil's mid-north savannas. This species has a wide distribution throughout South America, south of the Amazon river. They are opportunistic, feeding on dead animals and sometimes stealing food from other birds of prey.
